  • Who Put NY Yankees vs NY Football Giants against each other on TV

    Who decides the schedual

Why would MLB put the Yankees against the Football Giants on TV. You know who is going to win that battle.

With the unsold tickets at Yankee Stadium and I am willing to bet low TV rating in NY . You are killing the sport when you prominent team cannot win the TV ratings even in its own city, Its a problem.

So you're saying they should have had a day off between Games 1 and 2 to accomodate the NFL? Yeah, that makes sense.
46 wins to match last year's total

If the games were switched the 49ers would be on against the SF Giants. As much as I love NY, we are not the center of the universe.

Maybe the Niners would have won that game. :P

Considering both were on national TV, I wonder how many people in this forum watched the 49ers-Giants as opposed to the Yankees-Tigers.

Pretty sad that in one of the last baseball towns in the US, Baseball is losing to football.

I saw a few articles that are suggesting that the Giants could replace the Yankees as the #1 team in NY

St. Louis will never be a "football town."

Thats possible but the Giants have no where near the fan base outside of NY City.

Can I prove it with numbers, probably not but there seems to a good number of Yankee fans in many opposing teams parks.
Probably because of all the winning over the years, Giants not even close in that department.

More People in Minneapolis for example (A city with no dog in either game, but with a team in Both Sports) will watch a regular season Giants-49ers game than a Yankees-Tigers playoff game

Yes, I should NEVER be left with just those two options.

In general, more people will watch an NFL game than an MLB game. There are occasional exceptions, but it's seen as a surprise these days. NFL 'won' the TV ratings 'battle' years ago.

And... what? Baseball remains enormously popular. Average attendance is about as high as ever. Every postseason game gets a national telecast. What's the worry, exactly?

Thats the way I view the situation. Times have changed football a bigger draw..............I still get a good dose of baseball.
Hey........there are people who watch fishing programs....there may even be some recording fishing programs so they can watch when they get home.........." not that there is anything wrong with that".

                              and your point is ??????

this is NYC and the year 2012
the heck with national tv rating or tv rating
now a days you can watch both games live HD at home on one TV
or you can record one for later and watch one live
or watch one on your computer or smartphone (verizon NFL) and one on tv
the unsold tickets at YS, has NOTHING to do with who is popular at the moment
                              or attendence

                              after sept 11,2001,
I think it was in aug or sept but I can't recall the year
to prove a point that NYC could handle itself again
NYC had game played all over the city

the tennis US.open was sold out(record crowd at night)
the mets were at home over 55k also sold out
the yankees were also home over 57k sold out
both play night game same start time
