  • Detroit reaches WS with a sweep of New York

Congratz Tigers. not a good regular season but their pitching really dominated in the PS. They have not hit a lot either but their middle of the lineup is really deadly.

they will be hard to beat for either team especially now that verlander is guaranteed to pitch on normal rest and has to be faced twice.

Congrats to the Detroit Tigers for winning their 11th American League pennant.

Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.-Crash Davis

Congrats to the Tigers and Detroit fans everywhere

If they play the Cardinals it would be a great matchup - the Tigers great starters and questionable bullpen vs the Cardinals hitters and comeback history

If they play the Giants - it might be frightening what their pitchers can do to the Giants lineup
      1. The more I learn, the more convinced I am that many players are over-rated due to inflated stats from offensive home parks (and eras)

Yeah the Tigers will be tough to beat. It's looking like another Cardinals/Tigers matchup.

WOW! As the season dragged on and the Tigers stumbled, pitching bumbled and the team couldn't produce on the road, I had no expectation that this would happen.

I'm just going to enjoy this. I Don't think the WS will be a cake walk. Its going to be tough. But then again, I thought the Yankees would be too. So what do I know?

I am pulling for the Tigers to win the World Series, but I have a real feeling the Cardinals are going to play them for it. And beat them. The Cards just seem to be playing at top level right now.

              Or the Giants just aren't

                Verlander is downright scary...

Yanks really melted down in the last game and it does give me a bit of pleasure the Tigers swept the yanks but at the same time i think the yanks might clean house this off-season.

Congrats, Tigers! Good stuff. The only thing that would have made this better is if ARod struck out to make the final out of the series.

Actually, a pinch hit, solo homer complete with a ridiculous strut/jog right before the next guy made the final out would have been better. Cue ridiculous "told ya so" interviews from A-Rod for the next three months.

I wonder if ARod tried to give her a ball, too?

Congratulations on a well earned pennant. This will be my third time pulling for them in the Series.

I just read the Yankees never had a single lead in any game during this series. Talk about a sweep.

                              Congratulations to the Tigers.
