Wow, the players actually did a pretty god job!

The only one I would strongly disagree with is Adam Dunn. His season wasn't good enough to be CPOY material - especially since he came back from an even suckier season as opposed to an injury or something.
    My top 10 players:

    1. Babe Ruth
    2. Barry Bonds
    3. Ty Cobb
    4. Ted Williams
    5. Willie Mays
    6. Alex Rodriguez
    7. Hank Aaron
    8. Honus Wagner
    9. Lou Gehrig
    10. Mickey Mantle

In Dunn's case, I think it might be a personal and friendly nod more than anything else. Nobody felt worse about his 2011 season than he did, and, while he certainly didn't have a great year by anyone's standards, the fact his swing (kind of) returned was probably heartening for players who know how hard being in a slump can be, with Dunn's slump really magnified last year.

I agree with most of em surprised Harper wasn't selected for the NL rookie though.

Wade Miley too. Any of the three would have been great choices.

I think players are very different from us fans. And I even think that there may be personal issues that made them vote. For instance, CCN already noted the reason why they voted for Dunn. But there are others that were voted due to personal reasons:

Todd Frazier, Rookie? For Real? This was a slap in the face to the marvelous Bryce Harper, whom is being labeled as the next big thing. Trout could had gotten the same treatment, but his numbers were so mindblowing that Cespedes couldn't overcome.

Miguel Cabrera, Player of the Year? Sure, he deserves it. And players know how hard is that Triple Crown thing. But this was a slap in the face to Trout. They couldn't deny him the Rookie Award, so they went here.

David Price, Pitcher of the Year? I think players still think wins are that important. Or it may be that they're fed up with all this Verlander loving.

Then all the other awards are very accurate.

Why was it a slap in the face to any of them? Miguel Cabrera, just like you said, deserves the player of the year award. He won the Triple Crown, and he switched positions to accomodate a new player on the team, a much more difficult position to play than the one he left. Sure, he didnt play Gold Glove defense there, but he sure was a lot better than anyone figured he would be. Just because guys like Justin Verlander and Mike Trout are the "hot topic" in the game today, and had very nice years, doesnt mean they need to win every award availible to them.

That last part Zoltan...you nailed it. Players are tired of listening to us fans and analysts raving about X player. When it comes to their votes, at times, they give it to a more likable character in their mind. There's no way that Price topped Verlander this season, but players are sick of hearing us praising Verlander so much, that they're just fed up.

Do you have verification of that?
