        I guarantee you that you wish Loria was the Dodger owner instead, so stop pretending to feel good about the Dodgers having owners that have deep pockets and a commitment to fielding a competitive team every year. Ask yourself this, brother: if Frank McCourt managed to field better teams than the Giants in 5 of the 8 years under his ownership, what you gonna do when the Guugenheims run wild on you?

            I think a strong LA franchise is good for baseball

            The Dodgers are truly a storied franchise

            I am just not buying that spending a ton of money guarantees championships

                What would be good for baseball is for the Giants and Dodgers to be good at the same time. That hasn't really happened since the 1960's. Can you imagine what a seven game Giants-Dodgers NLCS would be like?! Crazy pandemonium! :hyper:

                      Who said anything about just spending for the sake of buying championships? Kasten goes on a record for saying investing in the farm system, which means not only better scouts domestically, but internationally instead. They will also sign first round draft picks that would be hard for other teams to sign.

                          If the Dodgers win the pennant in 2013 I assume you'll still be defending your claim that the trade "backfired" because they didn't gel in the first 30 days of their Dodger career.

                            A half season of the current roster. 2 games short of making the playoffs. Didn't fail miserably as you want to imply, did they?
