  • General 2012/2013 Offseason Thread

Yeah I'm new here, but to consolidate things, I'd think a 2012-2013 offseason thread would be great. Instead of multiple threads being made upon a signing or trade, this can be the one to handle everything other than team-specific threads.

If a mod wants to turn this into one, I'm all for it.

Mets have apparently inquired for the best of the best when it comes to moving Dickey and/or Niese. Yesterday it was Boegarts from Boston and today it's Wil Myers form KC.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the bidding for Shane Victorino is down to the Indians, Red Sox and a third unidentified team.

Unidentified team could be anybody, though I think there's a 90% chance it's the Mariners - they know they have to top years and/or dollars to attract players.

I'm hoping it's the Mets; not that I'm especially enamored of Victorino, but they need somebody to play in the outfield. Victorino would be a distinct improvement over what's on the roster now. But after signing David Wright, I don't suppose they'll do much at the meetings.

                  Bad idea.

The Mets have the best, smartest fans in baseball.

lol this is a bad deal
                      1. The more I learn, the more convinced I am that many players are over-rated due to inflated stats from offensive home parks (and eras)

Ha. And thats not the only time Ive seen him pull something like that out there.

But from all the Phillies games ive watched over the last 4 years, Shane can be quite a good player when hes going. Im actually a little excited about this signing.

I am sorry I don't think Victorino is that good

He put some OK numbers in that bandbox but overall I just don't like his game
