This thread may have been premature. I was told they had signed him but apparently they are still in talks.

I heard it was a one year deal. But looking now I don't see anything.

"I have the ultimate respect for Whitesox fans. They were as miserable as the Cubs and Redsox fans ever were but always had the good decency to keep it to themselves. And when they finally won the World Series, they celebrated without annoying every other fan in the country."--Jim Caple, ESPN (Jan. 12, 2011)

The Yanks apparently offered one year 12 million.

Trying to fill their void at third base, the New York Yankees have offered Kevin Youkilis a one-year deal worth $12 million, according to sources.
Lou Gehrig is the Truest Yankee of them all!

Wouldn't be the first time. There've been dozens of players who've gone from one team to the other. Luis Tiant, Doug Mientkiewicz, Johnny Damon, Wade Boggs, Roger Clemens...

And you just don't see ex-Yankees signing with the Red Sox.
Using a stolen chant from Boston Celtics fans whenever an L.A. team is playing up there just reeks of inferiority complex.

If hitting a baseball is the toughest thing to do in sports, then pitching must be the easiest thing to do in sports.

                  1. The more I learn, the more convinced I am that many players are over-rated due to inflated stats from offensive home parks (and eras)

^ Didn't the two Davids (Cone and Wells) also go in that direction? Although I think Boomer later returned to the Yankees.

Yes, as well as Ramiro Mendoza, Alfredo Aceves, Mark Melancon, Jim Leyritz, Mike Lowell, Mike Stanley, to name a few.

Just goes to show players dont care about team loyalty like fans as they are there for job purposes

Considering the Red Sox bailed on Youk I would think he'd play at a discount for NY, nevermind the crazy $12m he was offered.

Kevin Youkilis's decision is, at heart, a choice between playing for Cleveland/Francona at 2/18 or playing for the Yankees at 1 for $12m

Good to see the Indians willing to spend money this offseason as they were in on Victorino, are still in on Swisher and gave Youkilis an offer to think about.
