  • Bryce Harper 2013 Prediction Thread

I thought it might be fun to predict Bryce Harper's stats for his age-20 season in 2013. It will be interesting to see if he can approach what Trout did in 2012 as a 20 year old. I can't remember a time when we had two players at the same time who were this young and this good.

Well, here's my projection for Harper in 2013. I'd like to see all of yours too. Then we can revisit this thread at the end of the season and see who came closest.

    580 AB - .292/.381/.519 33 HR, 26 SB, 90 RBI, 112 runs scored, 85 BB, 37 doubles, 9 triples. 7.2 WAR. 3rd in MVP voting.
    My top 10 players:

    1. Babe Ruth
    2. Barry Bonds
    3. Ty Cobb
    4. Ted Williams
    5. Willie Mays
    6. Alex Rodriguez
    7. Hank Aaron
    8. Honus Wagner
    9. Lou Gehrig
    10. Mickey Mantle

        I predict a low batting average, high slugging type season for Harper. Like a .270/.365/.515 with 35 2B, 10 3B, 30 HR, 80 BB, 120 K's, and 25-30 steals.

that can happen to anyone but he needs to be more careful in the future.

ZiPS nailed Harper's BA AND SLG right on the nose.

                  Harper's actual numbers:

                  .274/.368/.486

And people continue to scoff at projection systems.
