  • New, Dynasty, AL/NL, Salary Cap League Forming!

    Heritage Baseball League
    2006 Inaugural Season

First 15 owners that apply and are accepted are IN, and we can get rolling.

Owner requirements are: high level of sportsmanship and friendliness, knowledge of the game, willingness to be in a dynasty league (multi-year commitment) and the ability to be online every day. All of these are crucial. The stakes will be low; this is not a big-money, cut-throat league. (I want a very competitive, but amiable group of fantasy owners.) Each owner will likely contribute $20 toward end-of-season cash awards.

The draft will be conducted in slow fashion on a message board that will be created for the league. Snake-style format will be utilized. Draft order will be determined by random, online draw....full disclosure provided!

The league will have 16-20 teams, depending upon the level of interest.

The draft pool will be comprised of all major-league and minor-league players, both American and National Leaguers.

THE TWIST: How the HBL will differ from standard fantasy leagues is the existence of a $100 million salary cap. Each owner will begin the season with a virtual payroll of $100M, spending it as they go on their drafted players. The important detail is that as you draft a player, you will not simply be drafting the player. You will also assume that player's real-life MLB contract.

Example: You draft Paul Konerko in the first round. You are also assuming his ChiSox contract (5/60), which pays him $12M annually over the next 5 years. You have added $12M to your payroll, leaving you with $78 million to spend.

The salary cap is a HARD cap. Under no circumstances will an owner be permitted to be over the allotted cap figure.

    Yahoo scoring will be used:

Head-to-head format (new opponent each week)

    13 Scoring Categories (6 batting, 6 pitching, 1 defense):

Runs, Hits, Home Runs, RBI, Batting Avg, OPS

Wins, K's, ERA, WHIP, Saves, Holds

    Errors committed

Gauging interest here ..please take a moment to send me a quick thumbnail sketch of yourself: first name, age, where you live, fantasy baseball experience, why you'd enjoy the league & contact info.

    Regards,
    Matt Kimber

Will this be 25 man rosters? What will the breakdown of batters/pitchers be? What will be the "definitive" source for contract info?

OK, thank you for the answers. I know what all the others are, don't know what BN is.
