  • PureSim Baseball

Hello, folks. This is my first visit here, and I wanna mention my favorite PC game: PureSim. This game is designed by a gentleman named Shaun Sullivan. It is now distributed by Matrix Games.

    For more info, see http://www.matrixgames.com/games/game.asp?gid=329

As of now, I am playing out the 1947 Dodger season, and I just entered June. After a rough start in April, Brooklyn is now leading the NL by 1.5 games. A certain Mr. Jackie Robinson is my leadoff man, and he's performing very well. My team is basically the historic lineup, but I recently made a trade with the Athletics, sending them veteran reliever Hugh Casey in exchange for a young starter named Dick Fowler. Fowler has won his first two starts as a Dodger.

My goal in this alternative history is take the Boys of Summer to a World Series title well before 1955, and perhaps keep the team in Brooklyn after '57.

I wanted to second this post by KG! PureSim is a terrific game and very enjoyable to play.

I remember playing this game a couple years ago. Decent, but the stats skewed towards the offense. I once had three guys with over 60 HRs in one season. Plus I couldn't get it to work with the Lahman DB right.

Puresim has added slider bars for HR's and other categories that works quite well in adjusting for accuracy. Shaun has also added an option to turn off closers.

I need some help installing the game. I just downloaded it and saved it to my computer, but when I try to open it, I get the message that the compressed folder is invalid or corrupt. I know a lot more about baseball than I do about computers. Does anyone know how to fix it? I emailed matrix tech support, but I dont have the patience to wait for a response.

Maybe try a fresh download as its sounds like its downloaded badly - the install file usually works fine from them as do the updates.

Erik, the game has undergone many many changes in the last 2 years. We are now on version 1.70h. I recommend that you revisit it. BTW, Shaun will be releasing another updated version later this year.

If it was out for Mac, then I'd get it (if it's still shareware, like it was when I played it).

Sorry, man, no Mac version. The latest edition has a demo, but the full-install is now a retail game.
