  • Who would you keep?

10 team head to head 5 keeper league. We keep based off of points assigned via draft spot.

    I have
    Pujols 23 points
    Manny 22 points
    Cano 18 points
    R Zimmerman 17 points
    Harang 15 points
    Valverde 5 points
    Capps 3 points

we are allowed 81 points, who would you keep?

I'm planning on Pujols, Manny, Cano, Valverde, and Capps.

Also, where is a good site for free mock drafts?

I think you should hold on to zimmerman.

I'm not talking as a Yankee fan, but I don't think you should keep Manny - he is getting old.

no worries about his offseason surgery?

If you kept zimmerman, then who else? Harang + one of the relievers or both of the relievers?

well, Zimmerman is young still, I don't think the injuries will bother him, and I believe the new ballpark the Nationals got should increase Zimmerman's batting stats.

just go with everyone on your list but Ramirez - I believe that equals 81 points too.

well, I would just keep them all but we are limited to 81 points or 5 players, whichever comes first. If I didn't keep ramirez then I would still have to drop someone else.
thanks for the opinion though. He is getting kind of old and reports of him already jawing about next year's contract, doesn't sound like his attitude has changed much.

Actually Manny reported to camp ontime/early for the first time as a Redsox. Has been completely dedicated to being in shape and talking up being a Redsox for the remainder of his career. He appears to be trying extremely hard to justify having the Redsox pick up his 2 years of team options left. This is the best attitude Manny has had as a Redsox. I would not be surprised if Manny has a great year.

imagine that a yanks fan's opinion being a polar opposite of a sox fan's opinion. LOL.

                  I ended up keeping

                  Pujols 23 points
                  Cano 18 points
                  R Zimmerman 17 points
                  Harang 15 points
                  Valverde 5 points

Now it's a decision on who to draft with my first pick. I'm 5th in our order, here are the notables that are available.

                  Chase Utley
                  Jake Peavy
                  Mark Teixeira
                  Carlos Beltran
                  David Ortiz
                  Curtis Granderson
                  Derek Jeter
                  Lance Berkman
                  Aramis Ramirez
                  Derrek Lee
                  Travis Hafner
                  Nick Markakis
                  Corey Hart
                  C.C. Sabathia
                  Dan Haren
                  Carlos Guillen
                  Troy Tulowitzki
                  Alex Rios
                  Matt Kemp
                  John Lackey
                  Justin Verlander
                  Chipper Jones

utley, teixeira, peavy, jeter or beltran are likely all to be gone when it gets to me. I'm thinking granderson, jeter, or possibly berkman (in case pujols goes out becaue he is 1b/of). I really want haren and I wouldn't mind having tulowitzki in the 2nd round if jeter isn't available. Why is haren going lower in drafts this year after the year he had last year? I really like Lackey and Verlander especially as well. This is a head 2 head 5X5 league.

I mustn't understand your league too well because I'm not sure how some of those guys weren't kept.

I'd take about 3/4 of the guys on that list over Granderson. Where he's going on most drafts, he's a bust if he doesn't replicate last season. Let somebody else bet on him doing that.

Last year was our first year with this league, we had to keep 5 players and we're only allowed 81 points. So all the 1st round picks from last year had a point value of 23, 2nd round 22, 3rd round 21, ....... 21st round 3, 22nd round 2, 23rd round 1.
Take Utley for example, he was a 2nd round pick last year, the guy that didn't keep him also had Holliday, Rollins, and Miguel Cabrera, so he didn't have enough points to keep Utley also.

The few mock drafts I've seen have Granderson going in the 3rd to 4th round. I believe he either just turned 28 or is turning 28 this year too. I've probably got a good shot at picking up Jeter I just don't know if I like him all that much, he's getting old.

I'd take Tulowitzki over Jeter and most others. Tulo may be a keeper for the next 10 years.

I'd take Harang and Zimmerman over the RP's. I'm not a fan of keeping RP's, since you can usually find 30 saves on waivers

He's assuming Utley and Peavy will be gone at his pick at #5.
