  • MLB 08 The Show vs MLB 2K8

    *Note: I own a PS2*

I don't know guys, after looking at the graphics of MLB 2K8 I am kind of torn on which game I should get. The graphics IMO look better in 2k8 but i am used to playing The Show series...

    and

So what exactly is the difference in games for the ps2?

I know The Show play is easier, but what about 2K8?

Never, ever, ever, ever, ever buy a sports game based on graphics. The Show absolutely blows 2K8 out of the water in everything other than graphics. The gameplay is way smoother, there are way less glitches, the gameplay is more realistic, and of course, there's career mode, the best reason to buy The Show anyway. The frame rate on 2K8 is horrible, and camera panning is horrible. It's basically a junk game compared to the Show.

I read the reviews for both games at www.gamespot.com The Show got better reviews than 2K8.
I rented 2K7 last year. The announcing was decent, but the players heads looked like a block. So I do base my opinions on games based on appearance.

Appearance and graphics are two different things. Appearance involves sound, fluidity, and physics, as well as graphics. The Show is far better in all of them except perhaps graphics, though 2K's cloth physics are downright pathetically horrible. The best part of The Show, to me, is the broadcasting. It doesn't get much better than "Peralta... over to Barfield... on to Garko... but Pierre is just safe." The depth and realism is fantastic. But you can't determine how good a game is based on screenshots or even trailers. A demo helps, but the best way is just to rent it, try out the franchise mode, then make your decision.
