I did this about 10 years ago on an old message board I was on.
The idea was fairly simple. Create a 20-player team of the best of the best in draft form.
The hitch... Each player's last name has to begin with a different letter of the alphabet. Meaning you can't have both Musial and Mays on your team.
When we did this back in '03, it was fun. Also caused some outside thought because not only does position scarcity become involved - so does the alphabet.
It would be based on single season statistics of your choice once you've acquired that player. If you select Ruth, you can choose whatever single season you like and nobody else can draft him whatsoever.
Just something to pass the time. I might look into a sim generator to run teams in a round-robin sort, but not sure yet. I'll get a better idea if this actually kicks off.
Setup would be simple...

CI = Corner Infielder (1B/3B)
DH/UT = Designated Hitter/Utility Plyayer (any positional player)
SW = Swingman (any pitcher)
CL = Closer (good to have at least one)
What do you think?
