Erik Chavez and Jimmy Dykes platoon, each up to their maximum number of games. Any leftover games cover the rest at DH
Randy Velarde and Dick Green platoon. Velarde's batting line of .317/.390/.455 was excellent, but it doesn't hold a candle to his line when he platoons - he pulverized LH pitching with .348/.446/.489
Terry Steinbach mashes against LHP, but even then is still clearly the 3rd catcher on this team. Lapp and Perkins just rake, and they platoon as well.
Jimmy Dykes and Nick Swisher both do well in a platoon setting at DH for me, and for those games they can't cover, I hear Rickey Henderson might be halfway decent...
Summary
My hitting is way better than it might seem. I've got power from top to bottom, and pretty much my entire team has great On Base. I've got incredible depth, and can play the matchups very well. Rickey Henderson is the #1 leadoff hitter of all time - he'll frequently get on base, and he's excellent at throwing pitchers and catchers off with his running game. It's unfortunate he hit so many home runs. How is he supposed to psyche out the pitcher if he's already scored?
My defense is good pretty much across the board, with good (or better) fielding at pretty much all of the key positions. Velarde and Green were both solid fielders at 2nd. Joost was a very good defender at Short, and Chavez was a gold glover at the hot corner. Rickey and Dave Henderson both provided very good D in the OF
I have a truly stellar lineup, but honestly, I think my pitching is where my team really shines. The lowest ERA+ out of all of them is 145. I have far more IP than the minimum, which is hugely important when facing all-time lineups. But it also allows me to better utilize my relief pitchers in high leverage situations.Last edited by Wade8813; 09-19-2012, 11:57 AM.
