  • 1962 Free Agent Auction

    --Bidding on Premium Free Agents begins at midnight EST tonight. It will conclude at 11PM EST tomorrow night (March 31). The players on the auction block are;
    Mickey Mantle
    Rocky Colavito
    Frank Howard
    Jim O'Toole
    Zolio Versalles
    Luis Aparicio
    Jack Kralick
    Don McMahan
    Ron Hansen
--Minimum bid is 250K and all bids must be in increments divisable by that amount. Maximum bid is whatever you have left in cap room. You may bid on multiple players per post up until the last hour, when bids will be restricted to one player per post.
--At no time can your combined bids exceed your available cap space. If you do exceed your cap space your highest bid will be disallowed (that is the player you bid the most on will be lost). You will also face a 5M cap reduction for 1963. If more than one bid has to be rescinded to get you under the cap, the penalty will be 5M for each.
--A player for whom the winning bid must be disallowed will be offered to the owner who made the second highest bid. If they either no longer have the cap space or interest that player will shift over to the secondary free agent market.
--The secondary market will open at midnight tomorrow after winners in the PFA are announced. It will close at 11PM EST on Monday, April 3. Same rules for bidding apply A list of unsigned players available in that auction is attached.
--Free Agents may, and in some cases must, be offered multi-year deals. Any bid of 8M or more will get a contract of 3 years minimum/5 years maximum length (owners option). Bids between 5-7.75M may be signed to 2 min/4 max deals. Winnings bids below 5M have a min/max contract legnth of 1-3 years.

--I think its the site clock, not yours. Go ahead and repost your bids. The site clock will be the official one at the close of the auction even though its apparently off.

Mark, if you have a list of teams with number of players signed, and total salary, maybe you could post it in this thread so we can all keep track.

                      1 million on Aparicio
                      2 million on Versalles
                      11 million on Mantle

I only need 1 player but I can go over 40 and cut back down, right?
I should have near 17 million open.....I have yet to add my new guys to my official roster.

Oh, and how am I supposed to end this? I leave for work at 9:30, and don't often have a chance to get online once I go to bed around 10 AM....

It's pretty important that people be here for at least the last 10 minutes of the auctions. I will bid for someone if they want to send me a list of players and maximum bids, but I can't promise that I won't outbid you myself.

Yes. You can go over 40 during the auctions. The only hard limit is the payroll at $100 million.
