By "updated rosters" do you mean just a list of who's left after our Free Agents go away?

Also, I'm a little unsure about the FA bidding. How do the different phases work?

Yes - that's all players who are left after your free agents are gone away. As far as how the fee agent auction goes you should check out the free agent auction going on in ckl as we speak. It's just started so it's worth a peek

--Rich, our playoffs haven't even finished yet and we are in the middle of the CKL free agent auction. I haven't given any thought to 1902 yet and won't have much time for it til next week at least.
--I don't have a first round pick in 1902 so its not going to be that big a deal if I'm not prepared to start the draft next Monday, but most of our owners are also in the middle of the CKL offseason. It would be very helpfull to me - and probably others - if we could avoid overlapping the offseasons.

I second the idea of trying to avoid overlapping off seasons whenever possible. Also, I will be gone July 29 through August 3rd.

Well, since listing who's left on your team after FA's leave takes about 5 minutes, I think we can handle that. That said, I'm sure people may want more than 2 days to do research before the Rookie draft starts (although I would also like to point out that anyone could have been doing research throughout the regular season)

Also, looking at the other league just confused me. I don't know what these HTD bids are, or why there are a million separate posts about a single player.

I finished scouting the 1902 draft about a week into the 1901 season. So I'm ready for the offseason activities anytime but don't mind waiting if the others feel the need.

HTD stands for "home town discount" and is for players that have remained with their original teams that drafted them when they reach free agency. Instead of just outbidding the players current team, a team must outbid the players old team by a 20% margin. Thus in other words it acts as the players giving their original team a "home town discount"

                      Oh yeah, that's right.

What about the different "bid phases"? Is that the minimum bid? There are obviously some that are much higher than that.

Also, are we allowed to have cash as part of transactions? I think we should. It makes it more realistic and gives us more options.

Each different post for a player is a bid on that player. It's an open auction, basically. Bid phases are the minimum overbid (like, if a player has a 4M bid in the 250K phase, it can be raised to 4.25, then 4.5, etc. whereas in the 500K phase it would be 4.5, 5.0, etc.)

Oh okay. But how do you know if a player is signed or goes to the next phase?

It seems like there would be a lot of accidental repeats of bids that way. Might it be easier if we put all of the bids we wanted to make at once in one post?

A player is signed once he has a bid at the end of a stage (initial, 250K, 500K, or 1M) and there are no bids on him in the next stage (250K, 500K, 1M, final). If they get any bids in a stage they move on to the next stage.

But how can the first phase signings be announced if we don't know whether or not they'll get bids in the 2nd phase? The OP says

Friday, August 3rd (9:01 PM EST): free agent bidding begins
Monday, August 6th (8PM EST): first bid list posted
Tuesday, August 7th (8PM EST): first phase signings announced
So somehow you know that some players are signed before they have a chance to be bid up in the 2nd phase? Also, why would anyone wait for the later phases to bid on someone? Is it just because they ran out of time in the earlier phases?
