Oh, that's probably right: not baseball club, baseball league, or baseball governing body executives or other officials.

The one place to look is the discussion of contributors in "Sticky: Baseball Fever Hall of Fame". That's immense and contributors may not be easy to find.

Here are the ones who have been elected to the BBF HOF in other categories. Five are in Cooperstown (bold). The discussions and election results must cover some others including some scouts. I don't believe that any but Miller is likely to be nominated. Certainly not the outside "pioneers" Berger and Conlon.

But inducedted examples like Henry Chadwick , so Bill James could be a choice

And frankly I dont have a problem with Broadcasters being actually inducted (as opposed to a seperate wing) IF they were as important to the game as say a Bob Gibson or Lou Brock (ie Mel Allen)

Although Chadwick was a writer he was also an official, like secretary of the annual meeting or the rules committee. I don't know whether he ever was an executive, ie convention or committee president. Maybe not, as he was no longer a player. He was called "the Father of Baseball" and "Father Chadwick" in the 1890s and 1900s. It's possible they elected him on that reputation without discussing any particular role.
The now-official label "Pioneer" fits because he was pioneering in every role: pioneering writer, pioneering scorer, pioneering statistician, pioneering official (or executive if he ever served thus).

That is the best argument against the Frick and Spink Awards. They are second class awards, like the Honor Rolls of Baseball (1946, abandoned). But the fact that they exist means no print or voice journalist will be elected to the Hall of Fame, although one or three probably should be distinguished like Chadwick.
Eg, Red Barber (and Mel Allen?), pioneering broadcasters.
Eg, Francis Richter, print journalist.

I would add Harry Caray to that group. The guy was a living legend in Chicago and helped establish the 7th inning stretch.

Which is a more important event in Baseball

The Bobby Thompson Home Run OR Russ Hodges making the Call "The Giants Win the Pennant"

There have been other World Series and Pennants won on a Home Run , but none had the Russ Hodges call.

And I agree, Harry Caray is probably the most important Cub after MAYBE Ernie Banks

The J. G. Taylor Spink Award is given to members of the BBWAA, but I favor an exception being made for non-member Bill James, who is the most influential baseball writer of the last 30 years. It's not the same as getting into the Hall of Fame, which I do not favor for James, but it means you are recognized by an exhibit in the Hall.
