          ricky henderson without a doubt..

i think jim rice has a shot considering that this is his last year on the ballot..

i want dale murphy in but i seriously doubt he will make it in.. not from the writers at least..

andre dawson is probably in the same boat as dale murphy.. although he does receive a bigger share of the writers votes..

bert blyleven should have been voted in by now IMO..

personally id vote mark mcgwire in but it looks as though the writers have made a statement concerning him..

im on the fence regarding raines and trammell..

i dont think that the rest will get any real consideration..

          except mattingly..

mattingly had his peak years and was a fan favorite but overall injuries did
him in.. hmmm thats about it..

so personally.. id go with henderson, murphy, rice, blyleven, mcgwire and dawson

I looked at that list three times looking for Rickey. We all know he is going in next year. That's a slam dunk.
Of course more Yankees need to go in. There aren't enough.
Seriously, I think Rice and Blyleven should also go in. I would like to see Donny go in too. But that is probably a stretch.

Welcome back ARod. Hope you are a Yankee forever.

Rickey will certainly be elected and I wouldn't be surprised if Dawson and Rice make it considerably how well they did last year. I would much rather see Blyleven and Raines than those two.

Henderson is in and Rice is extremely likely. Dawson will come very close, likely clearing 65% and maybe even 70. Blyleven should continue his momentum, clearing 65% at least. It's fairly inevitable he'll get in before the VC gets a chance to vote on him.

I hope Tim Raines can at least clear 40%. It will also be Mark McGwire's thrid year on the ballot. If he doesn't top 30% again, he's looking at a very long stay on the ballot.

The 2009 election is an opportunity for the backloggers. Along with Rice, Tommy John has his final chance with the BBWAA.

The next two years have strong crops of newly eligible players:

2010: Alomar, Larkin, McGriff, E.Martinez, Ventura
                            2011: Bagwell, Franco, Palmeiro, L.Walker, K.Brown, J.Gonzalez

Blyleven's last chance in 2012 coincides with a weak field of newbies.

But he does have some potential carryovers to take their share. I would not be shocked if Alomar and Larkin are still on the ballot. I think Edgar Martinez's lack of counting stats really hurts him, so he'll be around. And Fred McGriff just looks like another slugger now. He should get in, but he has competition from plenty of guys who'll get solid consideration and a need for deeper looks and perspective. Bagwell should get in first ballot.
