I recognize most of the other names but I can complete only one two other classes of directors.

Bill Gladstone, not the Prime Minister of the British Empire!

Gladstone is Minor League Baseball board member from the NY-Penn League, and owner of its franchise in "Tri-Cities" including Troy and Albany, formerly the "Pittsfield" club. He says that he waived territorial rights in Pittsfield MA when he moved the club from Pittsfield, and he welcomes a league rival in Pittsfield (naturally, at that distance.

Arthur Young, later Ernst & Young, was the firm hired to count votes in Hall of Fame elections, iirc. (also consultant/overseer for the NBA draft lottery?)

Hall adds three to board
Staff Report

The National Baseball Hall of Fame's board of directors grew by three Saturday, when Bob DuPuy, Phil Niekro and Jerry Reinsdorf were elected to the board, the Cooperstown shrine announced Monday.

DuPuy is the president of Major League Baseball, Niekro is a Hall of Fame pitcher and Reinsdorf is the principal owner of the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bulls.

The openings were created by the recent deaths of former board members Bowie Kuhn, John McHale and Tim Russert. All three died within the past 14 months. Ex-Boston Red Sox executive John Harrington also recently left the board.

When Russert was named to the Hall's board in 2003, it had 19 members. The longtime moderator of Meet the Press died of a heart attack June 13. McHale, a general manager for three Major League teams, died Jan. 17. Former baseball commissioner Kuhn, who was inducted into the Hall on Sunday, died in March of 2007.

Hall spokesman Brad Horn said the primary job of the board is to vote on large-scale institutional initiatives such as the recent revamping of the Veterans Committee. Horn said he wasn't certain if a majority vote was necessary for an initiative to gain approval by the board, which meets twice annually.

All board positions are elected by board members, Horn added. He also said the Hall would have no further comment Monday on the elections of DuPuy, Niekro and Reinsdorf, other than the brief release sent by the Hall.

The other 15 board members are as follows:

The Hall also has a five-member Executive Committee. On March 25, the Executive Committee voted unanimously to accept the resignation of Hall President Dale Petroskey and named Jeff Idelson as its acting president. Idelson had the interim tag removed three weeks later. At the time of Petroskey's dismissal, the Executive Committee was made up of Clark, Morgan, Stack, Beeston and Russert.

The Hall has not released a statement in regard to Russert's replacement on the Executive Committee. On Monday, though, its website stated that Moore is a member of the Executive Committee. Moore is the president of The Clark Estates Inc., a financial and business management company.

DuPuy, 61, sat on stage next to Selig during Sunday's Induction Ceremony at the Clark Sports Center. He's been MLB's president and chief operating officer since March of 2002. His duties include licensing, sponsorship, international, broadcasting, publishing, marketing, public relations, government relations, baseball operations, legal affairs, finance, baseball's internet operations and the labor relations committee.

On Saturday, DuPuy met for 25 minutes with Kristian Connolly, head of the savethefamegame.com campaign, in Idelson's office at the Hall. Following the meeting, DuPuy told The Daily Star the Hall of Fame Game, which was discontinued in 2008 after a 70-year tradition in Cooperstown, would not be reinstated.

"The logistics of the game, the fact that the players only played an inning or two, and the fact that it was disconnected from the Hall of Fame Weekend, we think the resources are better devoted elsewhere," DuPuy said Saturday.

Knuckleballer Niekro, 69, also on stage Sunday as part of a record 54 Hall of Famers returning for the Induction Ceremony, won 318 games, struck out 3,342 batters and had a 3.35 ERA during a 24-year career. He earned induction into the Hall in 1997.

Reinsdorf, 72, headed a group that purchased the White Sox in 1981. He's served on MLB's executive council, was formerly chairman of baseball's Ownership Committee, and used to serve on the baseball's Player Relations Committee.

Reinsdorf, along with general manager Jerry Krause, might best be known for overseeing the breakup of the Bulls following the 1997-98 season, when Michael Jordan led Chicago to its sixth NBA championship in eight years. Chicago hasn't won an NBA title since.

Reinsdorf's White Sox won the World Series in 2005.

That is 17 directors including one chair and one vice chair, the same numbers and same two people as three years ago at the top of the thread.

There were 18 directors two years ago (#5) and 19 in 2003.

The group shows remarkable stability with merely six departures and four arrivals in seven years. Kuhn, McHale, Russert, Roberts, and Steinbrenner served until death; Harrington is the exception.

Since the death of Robin Roberts, all five HOF players were active in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Seaver, Niekro, and the Robinsons all participated in the first divisional playoffs, 1969, when they and vice chairman Joe Morgan all were broadly in their prime seasons.
