  • BBF Pantheon

Read First (see post 20 for update)
.There was a recent thread in the History section that has inspired me to do this. I have decided to host a baseball Pantheon of its greatest players with inducted from votes of the BBF public. I sincerely hope that this will interest everyone long enoughto be completed. I have wanted to host a thread for quite some time.
The Pantheon is reserved for the absolute best players in baseball. Players shall be inducted upon votes casted from the BBF public. The rules for the Pantheon will follow in a similar manner the that of the Hall yet with some exceptions:

-Players shall be inducted if they recieve the most amount of votes in that round. The first round will induct 4 position players and 4 pitchers. After that, every round after will induct two more postion players and two more pitchers depending who recieved the highest votes. Voting will continue until 12 postion players and 12 pitchers have been inducted.

-A player must have played baseball on the Major Leagure level for at least ten years.
-A player may still be active and be inducted
-Negro Leaguers and baned players may be inducted
-Every voter will cast 4 votes upon the first round, two for postion players and two for pitchers. Voters will cast two votes on every round after that, one for players and one for pitchers.

With that said, Everyone please cast only 4 votes this round! Anyone discovered casting more than 4 votes shall have their votes nulled this round and for the next four rounds (meaning forever). Please cast 4 votes and no less, although no penalties shall be invoked if less that 4 votes are cast. Please also vote for two pitchers and two position players.

Now that the rules are done, please post or PM me about any questions or comments. I hope this is fun for everybody and that it will last until completed.

Thank-you. Voting will close May thirty-first.

Ruth, Cobb, W. Johnson and Maddux get my votes.
And who didnt vote for Ruth? Sure everyone on the list has a good case, but its difficult to build a better case than Ruth's.

My first thought was to vote for Bonds and Aaron as position players and Ruth and Johnson as pitchers - but then I figured voting for Ruth as one of the pitchers would get my ballot disqualified - so I voted for Ruth and Bonds as position players and Johnson and Grove as pitchers.

That was me. I consider Cobb the greatest of all time followed by Wagner. Peer pressure almost got me to vote for Ruth, but I felt that was a poor reason to do so. I expected to get things such as the laughing face in your post. Thank you for not using the the one with the crazy eyes. I was with you on the pitchers though.

--I hope you aren't intending to do 2 position playes and 2 pitchers til the project is done. A 50/50 split would mean players who deserve it significantly more than the pitchers would make it.

                          Who gets 95% where?
In medical trials they hope new treatments get 95%.
