I have unstuck this old faithful thread, owing to its disuse due to the fact the project is lying fallow until November. However, I have compensated somewhat by 1) making this post to notify others of the change, and, perhaps more importantly, added a link to it in the Resources thread, which remains sitickied.

Not for me. He's still stated his intention to return, and at present, he's not listed as eligible for voting by the BBWAA in 2016. By those standards, I can't include him right now.Seen on a bumper sticker: If only closed minds came with closed mouths.

This fall will mark 10 years since this project began. We will conduct our 75th election.
With the baseball season almost halfway over, it's time to resurrect this project and start looking towards our annual election this fall.
You can find an index to all things BBFHoF here, the first post of this thread.
This may be the first time for many of you to get acquainted with the granddaddy of Fever projects, or, for the rest of us, it may just be a good time to reacquaint ourselves with the membership and history of the project. Either way, I would encourage everyone to start checking out this thread, which will be updated regularly between now and the election.

BBFHoF vs. Cooperstown
The Baseball Fever Hall of Fame has 339 members. Cooperstown has 300.
Our eligibility rules are different. Discounting broadcasters and writers from contributor consideration, banned (Rose, Jackson, etc.), excluded (Japanese and Negro Leaguers) and players yet to debut on the BBWAA ballot, that removes 46 inductees from the BBFHoF for purposes of comparison, giving us 293 members to Cooperstown’s 300. And that’s a conservative number. We have nearly a dozen inductees at the BBFHoF who spent 1-15 years on the BBWAA ballot, dropped off and now have a long wait before they become eligible for consideration by the Veterans Committee. I also gave a lot of leeway to the contributors, but it’s highly questionable whether people like Sy Barger or Charles Conlon would ever be considered eligible as “pioneers”.
The breakdown of 237 players in Cooperstown to our 272 players actually winds up being 237 to 241, so quite comparable after the reasonable factoring out of “ineligibles”. That leaves Cooperstown’s contributor count at a massive advantage of 63 to our more modest total of 52.
To summarize, using a liberal approach to factoring out candidates who are ineligible for Cooperstown, the National Baseball Hall of Fame has about 2% more inductees overall than Baseball Fever, but while Cooperstown’s playing members represent 79% of their overall inductees, our players represent 82% of our total membership.
Baseball Fever moved from a monthly to an annual election schedule once we surpassed the number of inductees in Cooperstown, but it seems we’ve since fallen behind their pace.
There are 237 individuals who have been inducted into both Cooperstown and the BBFHoF.

BBFHoF vs. the Hall of Merit
The Baseball Fever Hall of Fame has 339 members. The Hall of Merit has 250.
Our eligibility rules are different. Discounting contributors (which the Hall of Merit does not consider), and players yet to debut on the BBWAA ballot, that removes 75 inductees from the BBFHoF for purposes of comparison, giving us 264 members to the Hall of Merit’s 250. Throw out 5 more (Chance, Comisky, Creighton, McKechnie, O’Neil) whom we elected as contributors and that puts us at 259 to 250.
Further consider that 8 of our contributor inductees were elected to the Hall of Merit solely as players and the balance looks more like 251 to 250, almost exactly the same. Overall, roughly one-fifth of Baseball Fever’s enshrined were honored on the basis of their non-playing contributors, while the Hall of Merit does not recognize such contributions in their voting.
There are 232 individuals who have been inducted into both the Hall of Merit and the BBFHoF.
