Jacques Doucet: He was for 33 years, from 1972 to 2004, the legendary French radio play-by-play voice for the Montreal Expos. Over his career, Doucet described more than 5,500 Major League Baseball games … He’s the most important icon in association with the Expos. He also did a tremendous and essential job while taking part in the translation of an American baseball game to a different language and culture. He generated passions, dreams, emotions, love for baseball for every French-Canadian-baseball-and-Expos-fans.

Ernie Harwell - Those are two links; here’s a third link to some quotes by and about Ernie at baseball-almanac. He was the announcer for Bobby Thomson’s “shot heard ‘round the world,” which was the first nationally telecast baseball game. He also broadcast the first ALCS and three World Series’. Sports Illustrated picked him as their all-time baseball dream team announcer. Harwell was elected to the National Sportscasters Hall of Fame in 1989, the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1989, and the Radio Hall of Fame in 1998, and was honored by the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1981 as only the fifth broadcaster to receive its Ford C. Frick Award, among many other honors.
Davey Johnson a .564% ; 5-1st place and 7-2nd place finishes in 14 years managing. Oh, and a World Championship with the most unlikely group of knuckleheads and dope fiends.

Buck O'Neil - Buck is a fine gentleman who shed a lot of light on the players and history of the Negro Leagues. Also the first black coach in the Cubs’ “college of coaches.”
Jorge Pasquel - A top executive in the Mexican League, it was his inducements to our ballplayers that caused major changes in the economics of baseball and the treatment of American and National League players.

This is one man who gets nowhere near the recognition he deserves in baseball circles. I think Taylor was one of the top five managers in history. He wasn't only a manager, but a scout as well. Taylor worked with Rube Foster to build some of the best teams in Negro League history. The old saying was that “C.I. scouts them, and Rube signs them.”

Acknowledged along with Rube Foster as one of the top managers in the history of Negro professional baseball…Played a major role in the establishment of the first black professional league to survive a full season, serving as vice president of Negro National League …A strict disciplinarian and skilled teacher who brought out the best in his players…Known for the signing and development of several of the all time greats of Negro League baseball including Frank Warfield, Oscar Charleston and Biz Mackey…Began his career as player-manager of the Birmingham Giants, one of the top black teams in the South, later taking over the West Baden (Indiana) Sprudels in 1910…In 1914 he bought half interest in the Indianapolis ABC's, managing the team till his untimely death in 1922…Among the pioneers in taking black professional squads to Cuba for winter play.
