  • Players That Had To Wait Too Long?

Who are some players that you feel had to wait too long to get in to the Hall (not counting players that retired decades before the Hall was started).

Two that come to mind are Johnny Mize and Larry Doby. Neither should have had to rely on the veterans committee, 30 and 40 years after their respective retirements.

Gary Carter and Ryne Sandberg are very recent cases.

Frankly, anyone who is a Hall-of-Famer ought to be alive to accept the honor. It's always a shame to me that certainly players, so honored, aren't around anymore to realize how much they were appreciated.

Other, fairly recent, VC inductees are William Hulbert and George Davis, both way overdue.

Bobby Doerr, Johnny Mize, Larry Doby and Goose Goslin seemed to take longer than it should of. Jim Rice, Bert Blyleven and Buck O'neil are overdue to get into Cooperstown. Those are some that come to mind but Im probably leaving some people out.
        go sox.
