  • Of course he's a HOFer. He's also the active hits leader, at least until May or June.
Lou Gehrig is the Truest Yankee of them all!

    • So, he retired. I don't think he's a Hall of Famer, his numbers come up a little lacking.

I just picked the most controversial. There are another 30ish players on your list who are probably not considered HOFers by most and better than Griffey by none.

Well, I was a little skeptical since you have more relievers in the HOF than the real HOF has 3B, but you never know - we have heard some doozies over the years.

Apparently, several others did not pick up on the joke either, so maybe the issue was the delivery?

                • No, I think they got it, hence their less than serious responses.

And relievers are terribly underrated and underappreciated in my opinion.

It was delivery, some of us are old enough to remember that some people seriously said Harmon Killebrew was not hall of fame material because all he did was hit HRs--no Ba, not superb defense, just a not an all-around player.

Put an elipsis at the end. It's essentially the print version of literally putting your tongue in your cheek.

                      • Griffey was a HOFer since the end of the 1998 season. His fadeout in Cincy hurt his all-time rankings, but not his HOF chances.
"I do not care if half the league strikes. Those who do it will encounter quick retribution. All will be suspended and I don't care if it wrecks the National League for five years. This is the United States of America and one citizen has as much right to play as another. The National League will go down the line with Robinson whatever the consequences. You will find if you go through with your intention that you have been guilty of complete madness."

Underrated? How is that? Griffey was a 13-time All-Star, has one of the most famous baseball rookie cards in the past 30-40 years, is considered by some the best player on the 1990's, won an MVP award with four other top-5 finishes, is one of the top 6-7 center fielders of all time, etc. How is that underrated?
Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.-Crash Davis

                              Griffey and Frank Thomas both.
