Rule changes in red
My last few projects fell through. I'm going to keep this simple and hope it gets attention since people are voting in the "Really Big HoF."
For this project, the dead-ball era is defined as the period in baseball from 1900-1919. My intent is to create a HoF solely on the players within its bounds. There will be about 150 when we're done.
All you have to do is submit a ballot of 15 players. Each round we will induct the 10 most vote-getters of everyone's ballots. In subsequent rounds, you replenish your ballots with more players. Your ballots should be prioritized in by how strongly you want a player to get in. The first five of your ballot receive 3 points, then next 5 receive 2 points, and the next 5 receive one point. As we go along, the guys in the lower tiers will be bumped up and receive more points. For example:
#5- Bob (3 points)
#6- Bill (2 points)
Assuming Bob is elected in Round 1, you'll most likely bump Bill to the #5 slot in Round 2, which rewards him 3 points instead of 2. Then maybe you bump the #15 guy, Steve, to #14, allowing you to select a new player for your #15 slot.
A player qualifies for this project if: he had at least 2500 PA or 1500 IP during the years 1900-1919 OR he spent his entire career within the confines of the 1900-1919 period. The only exception is Smoky Joe Wood. Please consider the entire career of the player. When you submit your ballots, please separate the players in the mentioned tiers. I also ask that you alphabetize them by last name within these tiers (see mine).
I hope I can muster some participants.
