  • Weak HOFers

Most of us probably agree that the BBWAA voters have been too tough, choosing to vote down any marginal candidate rather than risk voting him in. The Veterans Committee and/or the Old-Timers Committee have generally erred in the other direction -- sometimes voting in players of very doubtful qualification for the Hall of Fame.

But for starters, let's try this out: In the opinion of this BF forum, who are the BEST QUALIFIED of those players voted to the Hall of Fame by the Veterans' Committee?

Please choose three players from this list -- the three who you believe to be the best qualified players voted into the Hall by the VC.

I think you are missing the best VC electee: "Wahoo Sam" Crawford.

I just spent the past 20 minutes comparing Brown vs. Walsh. You might be right. Walsh just needed more time and support, and I think he would have been better. That being said, I change it to:

              1. Delehanty
              2. Brown
              3. Walsh

                  2. Delahanty
                  3. Mize

                  Honorable mention to Arky Vaughan.

Red, it took me 16 years to get here. Play me, and you'll get the best I got.

Al lthe worst selections came from the late 1960s to early 1970s when Frankie Frisch was the leader of the VC. All those Cardinals and Giants to put in were a joke. Jessie Haines and Chick Hafey are the worst...
Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.-Crash Davis

Set aside the Frisch years, and overall the VC has done a pretty good job.

                        (Until this latest incarnation.)

                          That was tough...

                          1) Delahanty
                          2) Mize
                          3) Vaughan

I seriously considered Miner Brown and Ed Walsh... and even moreso, Kid Nichols, who wasn't put on the list.

This is a very tough poll, but I'm surprised that Baker hasn't received more support.

That's why I used one vote for "Other"
3 Finger stood out and Cardinal upbringing influenced my last vote for Mize.
