Ruth in 1916 went 23-12, 23 CG, 9 SHO, 323.7 IP, 170 K, 1.75 ERA.

I would have expected to see Ruth in the rotation of the Red Sox, with the aforementioned stats.

You'd be better off with Ellis Kinder, 1953.

Really, why does Kinder's name never come up among great relief pitchers. He had four years of ERA+ over 150, and a career ERA+ of 124, and it's not like he was pitching 60-70 innings like most modern relief aces, he consistently pitched about 120 innings a season. And I forgot to mention he did all that at Fenway. Very underrated player.
