Thanks. I thought so, but wasn't positive. One of the best parts about being born in the last week of Feb. Boston ended up in third. Ah well we finally did it. Thanks again for taking the time. Scriptito

Official starting date of Spring training was February 28th of that year. With many teams having pitchers and catchers report around the 20th or a little later.

take the cubs for example - opening day 1957 was april 16

from a chicago tribune article on 2/24/1957:
full scale workouts for the cubs begin tomorrow (2/25) but the early birds (mostly pitchers and catchers) have been working out for a week

however - the article also states that the white sox eliminated their advanced squad this year

    Pitchers and Catchers

Afternoon, I just joined in the fun. I'm a writer and the question I need answered, granted I should know it, but did Pitchers and Cathers report on the 18th of February in 1957 as they do now?
