I'm sorry -- I don't care one stick about a guy who pitched from 1900-1916. MLB back then was like the minor leagues or amateur leagues now. (don't want to get in a long discussion about this again)
"Life was hard for most people in the poor farming village, and the Marichals were no exception, living in a palm bark shack without electricity. However, farming ensured their having food. Francisco died when Juan was three, leaving the family in even worse straits. Juan tended the family’s horses, goats, and donkeys, and spent his free time fishing and swimming in the Yaque del Norte River.
When Juan was ten, tragedy nearly struck — he fell unconscious and lay in a coma for nine days. Poor digestion was the culprit, but treating it effectively in such a remote area was difficult. There seemed little hope for the boy, but a local doctor suggested giving him steam baths, and he regained consciousness."
Marichal had a poor diet. Had no welfare or social security. Lived in a palm bark shack. This is the kind of player Mays, Aaron, F. Robinson was playing against. Really shows how inflated and overrated they are.
"No matter how great you were once upon a time — the years go by, and men forget,” - W. A. Phelon in Baseball Magazine in 1915. “Ross Barnes, forty years ago, was as great as Cobb or Wagner ever dared to be. Had scores been kept then as now, he would have seemed incomparably marvelous.”

3000 AB's as a general rule & get your point. IMO John Mize is an exception. Mize lost his prime years in the military 30-32 years of age
with the Giants. If he would have had those 1500 AB's I think I would have put him much higher on the Giant list, let's give him WAR CREDIT!
For the Giants lifetime he was; 4th all time OPS, 3rd all time giant SLG., 9th all time OBP.
Lets remember in the 5 years he played with the Giants he started all 5 all star games batting cleanup 3X. No other NL player during
those 5 years was a starter in all 5 of those years games along with Mize

I took the 3 seasons preceding the war and the 3 seasons after the war and averaged it all out, and via this method Mize lost 414 games, 99 home runs, 340 RBI, and around 19 WAR.
With the war credit added in, Mize's tenure with the Giants looks something like this:
8 seasons
1,069 Games
.310/.400/.575
160-ish OPS+
256 HR, 919 RBI
47.5 WAR
All-Star every year as a Giant
