  • Funniest moment?

What do you think was the funniest moment in baseball history? for me it was either when the HR ball bounced off Canseco's dome and over the wall or when soxs fans cheered mariano revera when they introduced him after those blown saves.

Norm Cash comming to bat with a piano leg at Tiger Stadium on July 15, 1973 against Nolan Ryan when he was pitching his second no-hitter of that season.

Umpire Ron Luciano calling a batter "out!out!out!out!out...!" when the bat broke, the first baseman picked up that part of the bat, and tagged his bag. Luciano made one of his usual showboat calls on that one.

Psycho Lyons dropping his drawers trying to clean out after a slide.

Wally Joyner and Lyons playing "tic tac toe" in a game in Chicago. Joyner scratched in "I win" after he got three in a row.

Rusty Staub as a starting LF in that one All-Star game for the AL when he only played DH in the 1970s.

Lt. Frank Drummond of "Police Squad" umpired a game between the Mariners and Angels and when he tried to toss the umpire out of the game before Reggie Jackson tried to kill the Queen. Oh wait, that was just a movie.

Gotta go with anything that humiliates Canseco especially a fielding miscue that bounces off of his head...it works on so many levels.

the 1997 all-star game when randy johnson's first pitch went whistling over larry walker's head, and walker turned his helmet backward and changed batter's boxes.

I think Bill Veeck putting in Eddie Gadell to pinch hit, against my Tigs no less, was a good stunt.

I really liked when Joyner, I think it was , charged Ryan on the mound. Ryan just put him in a headlock and pounded on him. Joyner probably didn't like it, but I thought it was good.

Didn't Winfield alos hit a bird with a thrown ball in Toronto? That was odd.

Another moment in time, not really funny, but the source of great debate, is when Ruth called his shot in Chicago. A great moment in baseball history.

Don Carmen tripping over third base in like '88. Please tell me I'm not the only one who remembers that blooper.

Lloyd Mosbey's "steal of first" on when he stole second and the throw was airmailed to the outfield. He looked up and thought the batter flew out, he ran back to first to avoid being doubled-up, then the throw got away from the 1B and he "stole second again." Mosbey's commnet: "I didn't even get a stolen bae for it." Classic.

Ventura, you are right. As soon as I saw that, it clicked.
                        Thanks for the memory jog!!

                          That was Robin Ventura.

Another one from the not really funny dept. (at least for Met fans) was Roger McDowell attempting to slam the ball into his glove out of anger and Hojo making that tremendous save. The irony was Hojo was as bad a defender as I've ever seen.

OH, and of course who could forget Manny's interception.

Casey Stengel releasing a small bird from beneath his while tipping the cap to the crowd.

Babe Herman doubling into a double play.
