  • Steady Eddie's Best Year?

Eddie Murray was called Steady Eddie for a very good reason.
And he was steadiest when he was at his Eddiest.

So what was Eddie Murray's best season?

Not an answer to the question, but Murray put up four consecutive seasons with the exact same OPS+, '81-'84 ('81 was not a full season, obviously).

I thought this was going to be about Ed Kranpool. HA!

Well... I got it down to '81 to '90 right now. haha This is a good one because there's no clear cut choice here.

Actually, I think they were about the same because I lettered in all sports, and I was a two-time state decathlon champion.

My sophomore year I placed 2nd, and my junior and senior year - I got smart and piled up enough points between myself and second place where I didn't have to run the mile.

Yes! That the point. And I was surprised to find that Murray's highest OPS+ year did not come in Baltimore. But one would really like to think that Murray's best season was in the 80s.

For me, it came down to 1983 or 1984. He had the same OPS+ and BA in both years!

I chose 1984 because he played more and lead the lead in more categories. Plus, he had a better defensive year in 1984.

              Too tough a question?

I liked 1984, but 1983 and 1990 are very good also.
