Question about AL/NL Relationship 1900-01

In January 1900, Ban Johnson and the AL withdrew from the National Agreement - that is they didn't re-sign it.

Until all hell broke loose at the end of February 1901, the AL did not tamper with any NL players (that I know of) - though supposedly Clark Griffith had been on a covert mission for some time towards the end of that timeframe.

Anyway, just how often did the two leagues transact players during this time?

I ask because I notice a sale of Pop Dillon from the Pirates to the Tigers in January 1901 - seems like an odd time considering the tempers involved.

In all, 111 of the 182 players on American League rosters in 1901 were former National Leaguers

but some of those 111 weren't on nl rosters in 1900 - they came from the minors - many were on al rosters in 1900 - for example the core of the 1901 White Sox was returnees. First baseman Frank Isbell, shortstop Frank Shugart, third baseman Fred Hartman, center fielder Dummy Hoy, left fielder Herm McFarland, as well as, pitchers Roy Patterson and Jack Katoll worked for Comiskey in 1900

So, only Pop Dillon and one other time - interesting. I wonder how these two tranasctions went over with fellow NL owners.

The Boston Beaneaters purchased Gene DeMontreville from the Brooklyn Superbas in February 1901.

Not sure right now where I found the 111 number but at the time I was reading the Tribune on ProQuest about the 1901 White Sox.
