  • arod and steroid allegations

i have to ask this with canseco's new book coming out...he claims to have introduced arod to a steroid supplier...so what does it mean exactly? does it mean that arod actually juiced, and if so, when? his numbers don't indicate any strange spikes in his career...but i guess he could of been using from the beginning...if he even used in the first place

As discussed on the actual thread that you have been active in, it is just Canseco being jealous of A Rod and his general celebrity, and status, and wants to ruin him. That is all. He is trying to blame someone else for his problems.

because it may effect his ranking as a player. some people who come to the history section dont go to current events so i just wanted to see what some of them have to say.

If i saw his book in front of me, I'd treat it like the Manager Lou Brown treated Roger Dorn's contract clause in Major League.

so you should figure how much stock i put into it.

The legendary Lou Brown! The Indians wish they actually had a Lou Brown managing them.

Charlie Donovan: How would you like to manage the Indians this year?

Lou Brown: Gee, I don't know...

Charlie Donovan: What do you mean, you don't know? This is your chance to manage in the big leagues.

Lou Brown: Let me get back to you, will ya, Charlie? I got a guy on the other line asking about some white walls.

Canseco has been right on the money with the players he mentions in his books.

And I think Canseco will say absolutely everything about A-Rod that he can without putting himself at risk of a lawsuit. If he says he introduced A-Rod to a steroid dealer, that is probably the FULLEST EXTENT of what he can say, which is basically nothing. Canseco knew A-Rod, and Canseco knew steroid dealers very well it seems, so it wouldn't be unlikely for him to intorduce one of them to another. I think that there are plenty of dealers who would get a kick out of meeting A-Rod.

A-Rod has publicly stated that he has never used steroids. That's a lot more than what others could have done. He has also not bulked up, and has always been known to take off-season training very seriously, and hasn't suffered freak injuries.

I believe A-rod's cousin helped him use steroids.

Right, I bet you felt that way about his first book too, which begs the question, how does your foot taste?

I mean, Canseco is a clown, that's hardly debatable, but he has established a pretty high level of credibility in one specific area, identifying juicers.

So, I don't know if you can outright dismiss Canseco's allegations. It does stand to reason, though, that assuming he had compelling evidence against A-Rod, why wait until book #2 to drop it? A-Rod's as big a fish as there is, when you're seeking a media splash, you don't slow play that hand, ya know...

no, i didnt completely feel that way about the first book. I thought it was mostly about money with that one, though he was still close enough to the game that he could credibly claim that. but there were enough exaggerations and halftruths in that first one that his credibility in that area isnt all that high either.

The person who wrote the first book for canseco wouldnt touch this as there was nothing there. so yes i feel like i can dismiss it. canseco is nothing but a hanger on these days who desperately wants to stay relevant.

the thing is though I doubt Canseco was thinking about writing 2 books when he was writing the first. He also needed money, and wouldn't you think that you could make more money including the 3 players that are in this one? I mean A-Rod alone would have been huge.
