  • History Baseball Quiz

I found this quiz about History of Baseball. I would like you guys to take the quiz and tell me what you got out of possible 50 questions.

I think it's pretty hard quiz. I got 47/50 of possible answers. Some questions are easier then others, and some of the question you really have to think about it before answering it.

      I did worse than I thought. 38/50.

      1. Correct Answer: Rounders
I said none of the above

      9. Correct Answer: Cubs
      I said Pirates

      11. Correct Answer: Eddie Plank
I said Eppa Rixey, don't know why. Stupid.

      13. This was just stupid on my part. I didn't read the 1905 part for the bat. I said Frank Baker, it was Honus.

      17. Another stupid one. I said Chick Gandil but didn't mean to click his name.

      23. 1929 Yankees, I said 27 Senators

      33. Like I'm supposed to know where Vin Scully went to school

      Got the Yogi one wrong

      40. Bobby Richardson, said Tony Oliva

      45. Fingers, said Smith

      48. Seaver, said Sutton

      49. Dawson, said Yount

Since the quiz dates from July, 10 2006 question #28 no longer has the correct answer. The correct answer in Alex Rodriguez.

True. But that was not one of the choices. I got it wrong anyway. I thought it was Ott.
I got 43 right. Most of them were easy for me. But I guessed wrong on some of them.
          the ones I got wrong
          4. I said the Times. I had absolutely no idea.
          16. I said Hartnett. But I should have remembered Schalk.
          28. already explained
          33. I knew it was a New York school. But I thought Columbia with its great journalism tradition.
          39. I had it narrowed down to 2 and guessed the wrong one.
          44. I couldn't remember the exact number. I said 15.
          45. I should have known Fingers. Stupid me.

Mythical SF Chronicle scouting report: "That Jeff runs like a deer. Unfortunately, he also hits AND throws like one." I am Venus DeMilo - NO ARM! I can play like a big leaguer, I can field like Luzinski, run like Lombardi. The secret to managing is keeping the ones who hate you away from the undecided ones. I am a triumph of quantity over quality. I'm almost useful, every village needs an idiot.

Also 37. I'm somewhat shocked that Candy Cummings is the least popular answer for curveball inventor, as it was one of the ones I got fastest (thanks to Ken Burns for something, I guess). Also, 27% of people taking this quiz thought Babe Ruth was not in the inaugural Hall of Fame class? Really?! I mean, I can see that it's tough to pick any of those guys, but most people pick Ruth? The 58% for Abner Doubleday made me cringe a little too.

I flat out guessed wrong on a few, as I had no idea which lefty won 300 first (said Hubbell) or who caught four no-hitters (said Ewing), among other things. I did guess Scully correctly though.

My guess is some people thought Ruth hadn't been retired 5 years yet so he couldn't have been elected in 36.
I knew it was Young, though.

Somehow I got 46, with two of the ones I got wrong (44 and 46) getting changed from the correct answer I initially was going to guess.

                          45

I guessed on about 10 questions. I actually guessed the Vin Scully question right.
