DiMaggio. Despite injuries and losing Gehrig, he led the Yanks to one the greatest seasons in Baseball history. He excelled both offensively and defensively. And almost batted .400.

I'll take Dimaggio over the other choices. I think he had some kind of injury at the end of the season (was it in his eye?) He was batting .400 but dropped off dramatically the last few weeks to finish at .381
        My top 10 players:

        1. Babe Ruth
        2. Barry Bonds
        3. Ty Cobb
        4. Ted Williams
        5. Willie Mays
        6. Alex Rodriguez
        7. Hank Aaron
        8. Honus Wagner
        9. Lou Gehrig
        10. Mickey Mantle

Yeah, his left eye got infected near the end of the year. csh reproduced the whole story here.

I'd also take DiMaggio, but I am so biased here that it isn't funny.
