  • Wrigley Field is History! Help it stay!

There are some things in this world that should never be bothered. The Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore and Chicago style Pizza are just some of the things that deserve to be handled by God. A new greedy Cubs ownership have laid it on thick as they want to do the unthinkable; rename Wrigley Field for money. We here at KeepitWrigley.com are determined to do our part to stop this ridiculous idea. Wrigley Field is Wrigley Field and should be forever. Please sign our petition to show your support of not renaming Wrigley Field. This is not just for Cub fans, this is for all baseball fans and fans of life. We need to start spreading the word so God's home field keeps its sacred name.
Wrigley Field is as much a part of Cubs baseball as the 7th inning stretch. Sign this petition to keep the ballpark on Clark and Addison the friendly confines we've come to know and love.

In my own small way, I do my part.
It has gotten too hard to keep track of all these corporate sponsorships.
Candlestick is still Candlestick when I refer to it.
I dont use Qualcomm, I still say Jack Murphy Stadium.
If Fenway, Wrigley, Dodger Stadium etc ever changes its name to Halliburton Yard or Bear Stearns Field, I will ignore it.

I say let them change the name. I don't blame the owners for taking this action as their is a lot of money to be made with very little sacrifice by doing this. The very fact is that even if they do sell the naming rights it's not like there's going to a law forbidding anybody from calling it Wrigley Field. Obviously officially it will be called whatever the new name will be but the tradition is so strong that amongst the general public it will allways be Wrigley Field.

Names are trivial things anyway. Changing the name is not going to change the history and tradition and atmosphere in Wrigley one bit so I say just let this insignificant thing go as no matter what it's allways going to be the Wrigley Field that we all know and love.Whatever the case the new name will probably contain Wrigley Field in it anyway ie. (insert massive evil corporation here)'s Wrigley Field.

That's why it should just be Wrigley Field

While you're dealing with such "insignificant trivialties", you may want to lead an effort to rename Ireland "Guinnessland", or maybe even "Smurfit Kappa". Don't worry, we'll all still know and love it as Ireland.

                That's a good one.

As if that would ever happen. The analogy doesn't even fit. If that happened, people would DIE over that. I don't think anyone is going to die over this... unless you have a heart attack from being afraid of something like the name of a building changing.

Listen, if "they" could abandon the REAL best ballpark in baseball -- Tiger Stadium -- and replace it with a bland place like Comerica Park, then re-naming Wrigley Field is small potatoes.

I think they needed the money from Comerica so they could bring in some all-star............what was his name?

You do know that it wasn't always Wrigley Field? It was called Weegham Park, then Cubs Park and then it got changed to Wrigley Field.

Don't get me wrong I don't want them to change the name, but it happens all the time. The true fans will still call it Wrigley Field either way.

You are right. Tiger Stadium was once Briggs Stadium, Shea Stadium was once Flushing Meadows Park. (before it opened)
