Retro Unis/Turn Back the Clock Nights

Hey everyone!

wondering what everyones opinion is on retro uniforms... or the "turn back the clock nights" at the ballpark.

the l.a angels had theirs last night...with the 1971 california angels making a comeback....still losing...but there they were! damn shame they couldnt send out a vintage andy messersmith or clyde wright to face thome and company....but john garland hung in there!

anyways...I know oakland just had a retro game vs texas, who played in their expansion washington senators unis...both looked great!

aside from not wearing flannels....and the jersey sleeves being too long...thought the angels were pretty close to getting it right!

any other clubs gone old school this year?

This picture really annoys me.

It's 'Turn Back The Clock Night'.
It's not 'What Would 1969 Look Like If We Had Hip Hop Posers & Wanna Be's Wearing Super Styling Pajama Pants Night'.
These guys wouldn't have lasted 1 game in '69 without getting a beaning or an ass whopping.

And I see nothing wrong with the Pilots uniforms.

I like them for that they remember the past but it is really not the same because of the double knit fabrics and the "modern way" most players still wear the throwbacks.

IMHO, the best looking uniforms ever in MLB history were from the 1960s. I think good quality color photographs of players in uniform bear that out but it is just not the same when "recreated" in modern double knit.

The actual uniform material of the 1960s was a blend of wool/orlon and not exactly the same as the heavy wool/cotton "flannels" of the pre WW2 decades. The 60s era uniforms were actually lighter and more comfortable to play in then people may think and not as bad as past hotter unis. Not only do I think that the way that fabric type fit the players looked better but it was best for richness of color. Also, some do not realize that the "road gray" of the decade was not quite as gray as people would think. Some road uniforms were a very light slightly blue tinted gray and in many photos you can see they appeared almost, but not quite, as white as home unis.

Throwbacks are okay today but just do not really look the same.

I wish the Yankees did retro uniforms at least once...old timers day would be a good choice. The uniforms haven't really changed much but it would still be fun to see Jeter in a flannel uniform from the 20's or 30's with the high socks and old wool caps.
