all time.....id have to research alittle more.

In my lifetime.....1996 tigers. Go look at the numbers.....comically bad.

Wow I didn't realize the 96 Tigers staff was so pathetic. The staff ERA+ was 80, which is actually lower than the 1930 Phillies who had an ERA+ of 81.

The 1899 Cleveland Spiders had a staff ERA+ of 58, but they don't really count as a real team.

1905 & 1906 Boston Beaneaters have to rank among the worst.

          1935 Boston Braves team ERA+: 77

          Nuff said.

2 candidates; 1899 Cleveland Spiders and the 1930 Phil. Phillies.

The 1915 A's had a staff ERA+ of 68, even with guys like Joe Bush, Bob Shawkey, and Herb Pennock.

I think you mean the 1899 Spiders.
Any what's wrong with a team 1.88 WHIP anyway?

The play in the field and the offense at the plate had a lot to do with their records. Look deeper.

                      the question wasn't.....

who has the worst pitching on the otherwise best team. it was who has the worst pitching staff. tell me if you think the 1899 cleveland spiders had good hitting and defense. don't be condesending and tell me to look deeper, like you're the only one who can have an opinion on baseball history. try not acting so pompous.

Wow, way to try to learn something. Take your own advice
1875 Washington wasn't such a good pitching staff

They could take the 1873 Baltimore staff (a team that had the worst pitching ever and impossibly enough the worst offense also [single digit team OPS+?????!!!]).

Yea i hardly think a team which played 6 games can be called the worst ever. Although the 1974 team werent exactly brilliant they did have Jack Manning who posted a 147 OPS+ to go with a 91 ERA+.
