I know both Ruth & Gehrig barnstormed in my hometown of Albany NY many times. (helps it not being that far from NYC) There is a photo of Gehrig & Ruth in the stadium that the Albany Senators played in. It's in every bar and pizza place in Albany today.

History of Damon Runyon Field
History of Runyon Field (largely taken from the Pueblo Chieftain, May 27, 2002)
1934 - Runyon Field is born when bleachers are moved there from the old Merchants Field.
1938 - The field is officially established as a baseball field and called County Park.
1938 - Babe Ruth plays an exhibition game at the park.

How about Indiana?? Probably not since you really can't do anything in this state... it would be even worse back then."Back before I injured my hip, I thought going to the gym was for wimps."

Actually, I think they were about the same because I lettered in all sports, and I was a two-time state decathlon champion.
Bo Jackson
My sophomore year I placed 2nd, and my junior and senior year - I got smart and piled up enough points between myself and second place where I didn't have to run the mile.

When did this guy rest. Notice that date was during the regular season July 25.
The schedule played a game in Detroit July 24, drove south to Indiana and played that exhibition July 25 then drove to Chicago played a game July 26.

Where wasn't he. Most know of Japan and Cuba. Some other's places, countless a ton of small towns and cities. Also Manila, Honolulu, Montreal Canada, Toronto Canada, one in China December 1934 and even Sing Sing Prison, three homer game.
One ploy the Yanks would some times use to end an exhibition game early. One example at an exhibition game in Elmira NY.Getting late and they had to catch a train. In the 6th inning the Yanks move Ruth from the outfield to first base. Being that close to the spectators one boy would run over to Ruth to shake hands, get his autograph, then another and soon the field was crowded with young boys and men, Ruth would be surrounded and the field could not be cleared, game over and the Yanks make their train.
Worked every time.
