  • if only one cy young award in 1967?

in another thread lougehrig asked “who would have won the OTHER cy young award?”, referring to the solo award bestowed from 1956 thru 1966.

    my question is this:
who would have won the cy young hardware in 1967 had just one award been handed out?

in 1967, mike mccormick (nl) and jim lonborg (al) were the recipients.

--In an era of great pitching these are a pair of surprisingly weak wiiners. I guess it would have been Lonborg though.

I don't ever pretend to know who would have won the award since I try to go for who SHOULD have won it. I'm not sure McCormick OR Lonborg should have won their league's. I'll probably go with Bunning over Peters

The voters didn't distinguish themselves in 1967. I would have went with Bunning or Niekro. I guess they would have picked Lonborg.

I agree with RuthMayBond, Bunning has the others beat despite a mediocre won-lost percentage

This is at least the 3rd CY award that I think Bunning deserved. Funny that he only ranked once.

You must be thinking 1957 and 1960
