  • All Three

Perhaps this has been discussed before, if so please forgive me, but does anyone know all of the persons who served with all three original NY area teams? I know the following did: Casey Stengel, Leo Durocher, Lefty O'Doul, Waite Hoyt and Sal Maglie. Are there any others? Also: Casey Stengel was associated with all four NY area teams-again are there any others? Thanks! Brownie31

Leo's rival Charlie Dressen was associated with all three.

Burleigh Grimes pitched for the then-Brooklyn Robins from 1918-1926, for the NY Giants in 1927, and (briefly) for the Yankees in 1934.

Along with Charley Dressen and Burleigh Grimes, we can also add Tony Lazzeri who in 1939 played 14 games with the Brooklyn Dodgers and 13 games with the New York Giants along with his long and distiguished Yankee career. Brownie31

              Is this what you wanted?

Mythical SF Chronicle scouting report: "That Jeff runs like a deer. Unfortunately, he also hits AND throws like one." I am Venus DeMilo - NO ARM! I can play like a big leaguer, I can field like Luzinski, run like Lombardi. The secret to managing is keeping the ones who hate you away from the undecided ones. I am a triumph of quantity over quality. I'm almost useful, every village needs an idiot.

The only two players that played for the Giants, Mets, Yankees and Dodgers are Darryl Strawberry and Jose Viscaino, but both obivously did it years after the Dodgers / Giants moved. no one did it all in NY. In fact, I can't find anyone that played for three of the four while in NY, other then the already mentioned Dodgers / Giants / Yankees combo.

Brooklyn: Yes, I was referring to Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Giants, not the ersatz west coast pretenders. Thanks for the info anyway! Brownie31
