  • George Hendrick vs Juan Gonzalez

I'm going to run a series of polls with the winner advancing each time to face another opponent. Will leave each poll up for a week. I'll try to provide as much statistical information as possible. Hopefully we can get some lively insightful debates going and bring to light some overlooked players from yesteryear.
If you could pick between these two players to start your franchise with which would you pick? Please consider all relavent information. Their careers as a whole, peak performance, hitting, fielding, baserunning, positional value, league quality, etc.

If you aren't seeing it than why bother putting him up there? You remain mum on that question that I've asked several times.
Since you did ask. I felt that Hendrick was seen as a bit of an underachiever for the first few years of his career (OPS+ of 110, 120, 107, 127). In a different time, different place, and with me as his manager he would thrive and give me a first class CF. Juan Gone in a world sans PEDs who knows? I see Hendrick as being a far greater raw talent at the start of his career.

Just because I'm not seeing it doesn't mean the BBF community may not see it. You've voted against Juan Gonzalez a few times now and for (IMO) inferior players. So just out of curiosity where abouts do you rank Juan Gonzalez all time? I have no problem saying he's in the top 95. I know that is probably generous and most others would have him 200-300. If you have Hendrick ahead of him I'm guessing he is outside your top 500 which causes me to believe you underate his abilities due to the aledged PED usage.
Gonzalez however was a top prospect in the Rangers organization so there is no reason to question his talent level.

It's a fair point. When I have done comparison questions once or twice it was with players I could have gone either way on. I haven't done any formal ranking overall. IIRC he didn't appear when I ranked by position at either LF (30 deep) or RF
          (40).
