Negro League STATS!!!
Mythical SF Chronicle scouting report: "That Jeff runs like a deer. Unfortunately, he also hits AND throws like one." I am Venus DeMilo - NO ARM! I can play like a big leaguer, I can field like Luzinski, run like Lombardi. The secret to managing is keeping the ones who hate you away from the undecided ones. I am a triumph of quantity over quality. I'm almost useful, every village needs an idiot.

Got to say one thing about Buck and all those black players, these guys really loved the game. Getting very little recognition, not a money maker, poor training facilities, poor travel conditions and finding suitable lodging, forget it.
Yet they keep taking the field. I suspect there had to be some bitterness but it was never evident when Buck spoke.
He could have and would have been justified for speaking about the injustice he and other blacks faced but it seemed all he wanted to talk about was the game.
