Why would you compare these two? They are not even comparable...Ward had an ERA+ of 119 and Joss had one of 142. They also played in different era with different rules. Ward was pitching nearly 600 innings a season...it's kind of hard to take stats like that seriously. INterestingly, he actually had more value as a hitter than as a pitcher.
