"(Shoeless Joe Jackson's fall from grace is one of the real tragedies of baseball. I always thought he was more sinned against than sinning." -- Connie Mack

"I have the ultimate respect for Whitesox fans. They were as miserable as the Cubs and Redsox fans ever were but always had the good decency to keep it to themselves. And when they finally won the World Series, they celebrated without annoying every other fan in the country."--Jim Caple, ESPN (Jan. 12, 2011)

I don't think you are aware of Rodriguez's range.
Baseball articles you might not like but should read.

Perhaps "tons" left room for a better choice of word, but has anyone else picked him? As for Rose, he's not even eligible, so you might have a second choice at the ready.

I know - but 1998 was his signature season. It just feels right to put 1998 next to his name.

Take Barry Bonds; statistically 2002 or 2004 may be his best, but 2001 was his signature year.

Not too many pitchers are associated with steroids though; I had to research to find Denny Neagle.

Here is my favorite non-white team

            1b: Saduharu Oh*
            2b: Jackie Robinson
            SS A-Rod
            3B Eddie Mathews
            RF Hank Aaron
            CF Willie Mays
            LF Barry Bonds
            C Pudge Rodriguez

I'll take Pedro Martinez and Bob Gibson as my starters with Mo Rivera as a reliever.

Actually, this team looks very deadly! A-rod, Barry, and Willie would have made this list outright anyway. And Jackie Robinson doesn't get enough credit for how good he really was. Robinson lost 6-7 of his prime years. Had he been able to play right away, I think he might have broken 90 WAR and actually had better rate stats than he did. I shafted Pujols, because I decided to put one fellow Japanese player on this team. And I figured Oh was closer to Pujols than Ichiro was to Mays.

              I don't know - 2B should be Joe Morgan.

It's one thing to speculate that Robinson might have topped 90 WAR; but Joe Morgan actually did it (almost got to 100 too).

              Other comments:

-For pitchers, there's also Juan Marichal, Fergie Jenkins, and Satchel Paige.
-Josh Gibson for catcher since Pudge has the steroid cloud.
              -Edgar Martinez for DH.

Good call on Josh. I would love to see what Josh could have done against MLB pitching. That is perhaps my biggest curiosity, even ahead of Sadaharu Oh. I still Like Jackie Robinson over Joe Morgan mainly due to defense. However, you raise a very valid point there. I'll admit that stats don't back my pick of Jackie over Morgan.

You might consider replacing Mathews at 3rd with Ray Dandridge,as Eddie Mathews was most certainly NOT a non-white!

                    Yes, Matthews is certainly white.

You could also move Rodriguez to 3b and put Ozzie Smith or Omar Visquel at SS.

I'm not worried about who else has picked him. Games are played one at a time. As for Rose, how is he not eligible? He played more than enough games at 2B.

Looks like a good lineup to me. Yeah I wasnt sure how to really make the team I kinda assumed these are the best choices but when I look at these other teams it seems like some are picking maybe their favorite players rather than the best players.
