  • Just 4 Players Now Survive From 1930s MLB.

Al Brancato's death a week ago means that there are now just four living players who played in the major leagues before 1940.

    1. Clarence "Ace" Parker - Shortstop - 1937-38 Philadelphia Athletics - 100 years, 1 month. - 94 MLB games.
Parker is the second oldest living Baseball Player (Connie Marrero is 101). He is also a Pro Football Hall Of Famer, the oldest living Pro Football Player and one of 2 living NFL players to have reached 100 (Johnny Kovatch - about three weeks younger than Parker, is the other).

    2. Art Kenney - Pitcher - 1938 Boston Braves - 96 years, 2 months - 2 MLB games.

    3. Mike Palagyi - Pitcher - 1939 Washington Senators - 94 years 11 months - 1 MLB game.

    4. Bobby Doerr - Second Baseman - 1937 - 1951 Boston Red Sox - 94 years, 2 months - 1865 MLB games.
Doerr was a 10-time American League all-star and was elected to the Hall Of Fame in 1986.

There is also James "Red" Moore who played in the NeL in the 1930s and probably other NeL players from that period still around.

Well, as a Red Sox, Doerr played against the Babe Ruth, in a way.

Thread moved to history forum from HOF forum.

I have been trying to locate Lonnie Goldstein for years but no luck. He played with the Reds.

Leslie Elmer "Lonnie" Goldstein was born in Texas and played most of his pro career there. I did a quick White Pages search for Leslie Goldstein in Texas and it indicates that Leslie E Goldstein, age 94, was recently living in Fort Worth, Texas.

                Good luck!
