  • The Infield at Old Yankee Stadium

I was watching game 6 of the 1976 world series and the announcers were talking about Bucky Dent playing the Yankee IF perfectly because he was experienced with the slope and Bill Russell hed to take extra fielding practice cuz the ball jumped so hard to his right. Was the IF slope there until the end?
"No matter how great you were once upon a time — the years go by, and men forget,” - W. A. Phelon in Baseball Magazine in 1915. “Ross Barnes, forty years ago, was as great as Cobb or Wagner ever dared to be. Had scores been kept then as now, he would have seemed incomparably marvelous.”

I once took the tour of the Stadium and the slope of that infield was incredible. When you were sitting in the dugout you could only see the pitcher from his thighs and up.
