Don't think either of those teams would stand much of chance just for the simple fact that Ricky, Ozzie, Ryno and Ichiro would have a field day on the bases against Piazza

Yeah, but they can't steal first base.

Doh! The good doctor totally slipped my mind. Not only that, but his 85 was better than every starting pitchers best season listed in this thread.

                    I'll give this a stab.

                    1. CF Griffey Jr (97) Yes, he did bat leadoff for a bit in Seattle
                    2. SS A-Rod (02)
                    3. 1B McGwire (98)
                    4. RF Sosa (98)
                    5. DH Martinez (00)
                    6. C Piazza (97)
                    7. 3B Jones (99)
                    8. LF Belle (95)
                    9. 2B Boone (01)

                    1. SP Johnson (02)
                    2. SP Verlander (11)
                    3. SP Clemens (97)
                    4. SP Gooden (85)

                    RP Kimbrell (11)
                    RP Hoffman (98)
                    RP F. Rodriguez (08)

My squad doesn't have many steals, but my entire offense used PEDs (or at least I am betting they did, besides Griffey) so they are swinging for the fences, LOL.
                    WAR? Prove it!

I forgot about him too. I was going by career when I thought these up.

My starting lineup may not have the the chemically augmented power numbers of some, but I think it could hold its own in any 7-game series. It is unique in that it is comprised entirely of Hall of Famers. That is harder to do with the rotation since the only pitcher in the HoF that was born in 1950 or later is Eck, and he's taken.

                          1. Tony Gwynn (1997) - RF
                          2. Roberto Alomar (1993) – 2B
                          3. Cal Ripken Jr. (1991) – SS
                          4. Eddie Murray (1984) – 1B
                          5. George Brett (1985) – 3B
                          6. Wade Boggs (1987) – DH
                          7. Jim Rice (1978) - LF
                          8. Kirby Puckett (1988) - CF
                          9. Gary Carter (1984) – C

                          1. Dwight Gooden (1985) – SP
                          2. Randy Johnson (2002) – SP
                          3. Johan Santana (2004) – SP
                          4. Roger Clemens (1997) – SP

                          RP Bobby Thigpen (1990)
                          RP Tevor Hoffman (1998)
                          RP Bruce Sutter (1977)

Nobody likes Gagne 2003 for closer? Hard to beat no blown saves.

1998 was the season Sosa became a superstar, but statistically 2001 was his best year by a lot.
