Also how is 1992 Bonds better than his 1993 season?

However, 1957 Ted Williams plays just 132 games. You said 145. Even if we account for the 154 game seaon, he would have to play 137.8 games to equal the 89.5 % that you set with your 145/162 games. So if 80 Brett is out, so must 57 Ted be.

Also, I love 54 Mays, but he is listed twice.

    Nonetheless, I like your OP.
All good catches. Besides Piazza any other suggestions?

not one Hank Aaron season, even an honorable mention?

      57, 59, 62, 63 are all very good

Frank Robinson 62 and 66 are pretty solid

      Dick Allen 66 72

Other good years that are left out:
        • Luis Gonzalez 2001
        • Jason Giambi 2001
        • Jim Edmonds 2004
        • John Olerud 1993
        • Ken Griffey Jr 1997
        • Ken Caminiti 1996
        • Javy Lopez 2003

Now, I am not saying all of these years are top 40. I mention them only because they're better than some of the years on the list.

Disgraceful that A-Rod made the top 5.
Lou Gehrig is the Truest Yankee of them all!

Yastzremski is far too low. He should easily be in the top 10 for his 1967 season.

Frank Robinson 1966 is a major snub.
              My top 10 players:

              1. Babe Ruth
              2. Barry Bonds
              3. Ty Cobb
              4. Ted Williams
              5. Willie Mays
              6. Alex Rodriguez
              7. Hank Aaron
              8. Honus Wagner
              9. Lou Gehrig
              10. Mickey Mantle

Was there any method you used to make this list, or just kind of random? Mauer seems out of place at number 7, as I could name at least 5 or 10 better seasons just from other catchers during that time span.

Here's a list of the top 40 seasons since 1947 by WAR (Baseball-Reference).

PLEASE DON'T SHOOT ME. I'm just putting it here in case someone will find it interesting. I'm not saying this is the "correct" top 40 or any more valid than the OP's.
