Choose your best team based on these criteria

    One Player for each position
The player must be for a specific year
The Position must be the primary position played by that player that season
The player/year MUST have won a Cy Young or MVP THAT YEAR
Your goal is to pick THE WORST TEAM based on this criteria

    P
    C
    1B
    2B
    3B
    SS
    LF
    CF
    RF

    P Pete Vuchovich 1982
    C Thurman Munson 1976
    1B Steve Garvey 1974
    2B Johnny Evers 1914
    3B Ken Boyer 1964
    SS Roger Peckinpaugh 1925
    LF Kirk Gibson 1988
    CF Joe DiMaggio 1947
    RF Jeff Burroughs 1974

I pains me to put 2 of my favorite players, DiMaggio and Garvey, on this list, but they are the worst MVPs at those positions.

A lot of intangibles with Munson, Garvey, Evers, Gibson, and DiMaggio. Watch out for them.

If you could assemble a team from Gold Glove winners...
The Mets have the best, smartest fans in baseball.

Trying not to duplicate JR Hart's list:

SP: Jim Konstanty 1950. He had a tough job, but didn't pitch enough innings to qualify for the ERA title.
              C: Bob O'Farrell 1926
1B: George Burns 1926 (they thought he was better than Lou Gehrig that year????)
              2B: Nellie Fox 1959
SS: Marty Marion 1944 - Hey, I know about his glove, but how do you win an MVP with an OPS+ of 90 in 1944?
3B: Ken Caminiti 1996 - for reasons other than raw statistics
              LF: Hank Sauer 1952
              CF: Willie McGee 1985
              RF: Jackie Jensen 1958

^ well he was solely a reliever and 152 IP for a reliever in 154 games is an awful lot
