Here's a minor league star who doesn't get remembered enough. Bunny Brief spent 19 years on the farm, mostly in the American Association, hitting .331 with 2,963 hits, 342 home runs, 594 doubles and 154 triples. His 256 American Association are the most in that loop, ever.
He batted over .300 in 15 of his 19 seasons and eclipsed the .333 mark nine times (peaking at .363). He had over 200 hits seven times, reaching 230 one year, and he had at least 40 doubles seven times (and at least 50 doubles thrice, with a high of 58). In the home run category, he slugged over 20 home runs seven times, over 30 home runs four times and over 40 home runs twice, with a high of 42. He even hit at least 10 triples in a season nine times.
No doubt, had he done that at the major league level, he'd be in the Hall of Fame today. But he couldn't quite cut it in the big leagues - he spent parts of four seasons there, hitting .223 with five home runs and 59 RBI. In his first year he did pretty well, hitting .310 in 42 at-bats, but it was all downhill from there. He slugged over .600 four times in the minors, but never slugged more than .381 at the big league stage.
